Kelim Senneh Rug

Senneh is the old name of the modern city of Sanandaj. The rugs that come from the city and from nomads or farmers in the surrounding region are known as Senneh rugs. These double-sided kilims feature the typical slit weave technique. They often display small-scale patterns such as bouquets of roses, rows of tree or floral motifs, and sometimes traditional Mahi (fish) designs. Larger central fields can also occur, often highlighted with a rhombus in various colors.
